hi, i'm gemma!

hi, i'm gemma!

I was born in Trowbridge, Wiltshire, and grew up attending Staverton Primary School and The John of Gaunt Secondary School. My love for performing and storytelling led me to study Media Performance at The University of Bedfordshire, where I graduated with a First Class degree in 2003.

Even before graduation, I was delighted to secure my first TV presenting role with CBBC. After sending my showreel to the team, I was invited for an interview and screen test, and soon after, I was offered a presenting contract! I worked exclusively for CBBC from 2003 to 2007 before going freelance, which opened the door to a variety of exciting opportunities including presenting corporate films for Samsung and McLaren.

In 2013, I proudly joined the CBeebies family as part of the BAFTA award-winning pirate game show, Swashbuckle and have since worked on many CBeebies Pantos and Shakespeare productions. I also present Together, a BBC Learning School Radio show designed for school assemblies, and I regularly appear live at festivals around the UK, including the Big Church Festival. In 2016, I co-presented the new Alpha Film Series for alpha.org, which has taken me on some incredible adventures.

Beyond the screen, I run confidence coaching sessions and workshops in presenting skills, and I absolutely love working with children - whether it’s through storytelling sessions, birthday parties or helping them discover their confidence.

One of my proudest moments was being nominated for “Best Presenter” at the 2017 Children’s BAFTAs.

I can’t wait to connect and hopefully bring a little fun, confidence and storytelling sparkle to your world!
